Warm up those glutes!

Had my six-weekly sports massage last night and apart from being told to roll around on a tennis ball more to loosen up, my masseuse suggested that before going running I should do some clams to "activate" my glutes. She said when I'm running the glutes are the muscles that should be working, not my legs. But she said doing these exercises would get them ready and tell them they are about to do some work. Sounds weird doesn't it? But I see what she means. I'll try and remember to give it a try next time...
