Bristol Half Marathon

I think I actually decided to run the Bristol Half Marathon months ago, maybe even when I was laid up after the accident last year. At first it was just part of that original euphoria and determination – I ran my university half marathon a few years ago and had been wanting to do another one. But gradually it has taken on a new meaning for me. I know that what I have suffered in comparison to what some people go through and come back from is not that bad, but it is a challenge nonetheless. A challenge that I want to complete. Ideally, I’d even like to run I faster than the 2hrs 15mins it took me to run the Bristol University half in 2005.

The main thing I feel it is all about is to prove to myself that one careless driver has not stopped me. I want to show myself that I can still do anything I want. I know that in the long run, running is not going to be very good for my knees, so after completing this race (touch wood) I will cut back on the running and keep fit in a wider variety of ways. But until then I will be doing everything I can to run in September.

  1. Good to hear you're (quite literally) back on your feet and back running! :)
